May intends to strip British terror suspects of passports

Theresa May

Terror suspects with British citizenship will be stripped of their passports even if it leaves them “stateless”, under plans proposed by Theresa May.
The Home Secretary wants the power to take a UK passport from anybody whose conduct is “seriously prejudical to the interests of the UK”.
The move to bring in new legislation has provoked a row with the Liberal Democrats, who are strongly opposed to it.
It follows a Supreme Court ruling ordering Mrs May to return a UK passport to an Iraqi terror suspect accused of plotting to blow up British soldiers.
