A family of five has escaped injury when a pipe bomb exploded outside their home in Newry, County Down.
The explosion happened in Patrician Park, off the Dublin Road, at about 21:20 GMT on Wednesday.
The family members, including a couple and their three grown-up children, were at home at the time but were not hurt.
The blast caused damage to their house and a car parked outside the property. The SDLP MLA Dominic Bradley said two pipe bombs were thrown at the house.
The Newry and Armagh MLA has described it as a "senseless" attack.
Army bomb disposal officers and police were called and they cordoned off area for about three hours while the scene was examined.
A Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) representative said a motive for the pipe bomb attack had not yet been established and appealed for anyone with information about it to contact them..
In a statement, Mr Bradley said: "This house is in a quiet residential area and this was a senseless attack for which there is absolutely no justification.
"It could easily have caused injury or death," The SDLP MLA added.

"Those behind this attack are enemies of our community and anyone with any information should contact the police immediately."
